Planning a wedding can be overwhelming – whether you’re planning something simple and sweet or blow-your-guests-away extravagant!  Hiring a wedding planner or designer can be such a blessing – you can still do all your dreaming, but leave the "messy stuff" to the professional!  Jessica is one such super woman – owner of With a Flourish Planning & Design, she provides full-service wedding planning services to Manitoba brides.  Whether you need help with your DIY details, or help selecting vendors, Jessica is there for you, every step of the way!

With a Flourish was at the Wonderful Wedding Show this past January and Jessica asked me to photography her beautiful booth.  Below is just a glimpse at the amazing work she does! :)


1. Tell me about yourself?

I love coffee, cheesecake, having fresh flowers in my home, and wandering through bookstores.  I love plants but can't keep them alive so my husband takes care of them for me.  When I'm not working you can often find me at the Forks with my 5-year-old or biking around town with my family.



2. Favorite things (totally in love with...style, trend, etc.)?

Wildflower bouquets, mismatched centerpieces  lace, sparkly shoes, neutral colour palettes, bold colour palettes, milkglass vases, unexpected details, fabulous food and a balance of tradition and personalization.


3. What sparked your interest in wedding/event planning?

My very first grown-up job was working for a church, and my first task was throwing a block party.  I was hooked! From there I planned non-profit events and then with the encouragement of my boss took a course and started With a Flourish.



4. Where do you pull inspiration from?

Everywhere!  I especially love looking through fashion and home decor blogs and magazines.



5. Being a wedding planner sounds like a big job – what services do you provide, exactly?

We offer a range of services - everything from Full Coordination & Design, where we help with assembling a vendor team, keeping on schedule and on budget and designing the wedding, to Day-Of Coordinations where we coordinate the wedding day and make sure everything runs smoothly.  This year we've also started offering partial Day-Of Coordinations to better serve our clients.



6. What makes you different from other wedding planners?

I think we've got a very personalized approach - we're a small team of planners and take on a limited number of weddings each year, so we're able to provide fantastic service to each couple.  We don't really offer packages - our services are all customized and we try as hard as we can to accommodate every couple.  We genuinely love our jobs and I think that is reflected in our approach!


7. How far in advance should a bride contact you?

It depends what they're looking for - a Full Coordination usually starts 12-18 months before the wedding, and a Day-Of Coordination can be booked anytime but they tend to book up quickly!  For this year we are still offering a few Day-Of Coordinations or assistance with wedding set-up for Fall dates.


8. What do you love most about your job?

I love working with people, hearing their stories and working to make their wedding day flawless!  Every day is different, and I love the variety of events I get to work on.  We truly do have the best clients!
